Turkey Thursday and Black Friday

Yeah yeah it HAS been awhile. Thats ok, I have like 3 followers. :P Love you guys!
Anyway, I guess I just don't have the motivation or information to blog. I feel like whenever I'm doing something, Facebook is the only one I need to tell. Hmm....  I know! Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving at the Fernandez's

It was loads of fun, despite my 102 temperature and the looming midnight shift at Starbucks at the mall. I began the thawing process for my turkey on Tuesday. It took almost all day, changing the water in the sink every 30 minutes!! But I managed. I brined my 12lb turkey the day before in a concoction of sea salt, herbs, berries, and other various flavorful goodies. On the big day, my mother-in-law and I gave it a nice rub down with yet more herbs mixed in E.V.O.O.. (haha) Stuffed the cavity with some halved shallots and a bouquet of fresh herb sprigs. Then came the bake-baste-bake-baste routine.
Whilst the bird was in the oven, we played a game of Yahtzee. I won. :) We also watched some weird Canadian sci-fi show on TV.
So I forgot to remove the giblets from the cavity... which I hear is quite common, especially among first-timers. I recall looking very hard for them prior to cooking too. Oh well. The bag came right out the neck while it was cooking, and I had store-bought gravy, so into the trash they went!

Along with the yummy turkey, we had mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, stuffing, biscuits, and cranberry sauce.

Midnight Madness at Starbucks
After it was all over, I was still feeling sick, if not worse, and by then didn't have time to take a real nap before I had to be at work at 9:30pm. I pulled my self together and Juan drove me down to the Carlsbad Outlets. When we got there, all I could think was: wow. The line for Starbucks wrapped around inside the store and was out the door! I worked for 6 hours. My primary job was to stand at the hand-off counter and yell out drinks and names making sure everyone left with the drink that THEY ordered. By the end of my shift, we had run out of heavy cream (used to make whipped cream), 2% milk (default milk for every drink), and whole milk (mixed with non-fat in the event we run out of 2%), and I had lost my voice.

The people shopping were crazy I tell you! It was 3 am, freezing cold, and the line for Coach wrapped halfway around the mall. When Juan picked me up, we walked once through all the stores, but quickly decided we just wanted to leave, so we had Hot Dog on a Stick, and did just that.

Free Gowns??

Thats right!
The Armed Services YMCA is giving away free stuff for active duty spouses with military ID! As usual, the priority goes to the lower ranked families. :P E-5 and below get first pick! I know I'm going to be there super early with a latte in one hand, and my ID in the other. There are a LOT of wives out there and long lines are inevitable. I hope I find something nice! Or maybe even TWO nice things. hehe

Netflix is...

awesome! Not only do they send movies to my mailbox, but I can watch movies on my computer for free, whenever I want. And now that the computer is connected to the TV, I can watch those free movies off the Netflix website on my TV!! Everyone should do this. It would be a great to way to share slideshows, home movies, power points, etc. I know this is not new technology, but hey. I'm excited about it. I just watched The Corpse Bride on my TV without having to rent it. :)
